“Thank you so much for a wonderful weekend! It was perfect - great venue, great food, great teaching, great company, great "therapy" and great fun. You have given me an idea of how to put feelings into art. It has revolutionised my painting and I am already looking forward to getting stuck into more stuff. ” - Pip Deave, course participant, November 2011

Painting Courses 2012

The Courses

The aim of the courses will be to explore landscape-based abstraction using mixed media. Incorporating things like wax, sand and plaster, you will free your technique and get to grips with texture. Tuition will be in mixed ability groups with numbers limited to a maximum of 8 participants to allow plenty of time for individual needs to be catered for. Photos from previous courses can be seen on my blog.

The Artist

Linda Norris has been working as a painter for 29 years. She trained in Fine Art at University College of Wales, Aberystywth and graduated in 1981 with a BA (Hons) Visual Art. She then worked in Wales and London developing her own work alongside working as a community artist and art teacher specialising in working with disadvantaged groups and people with particular special needs.

She moved to Pembrokeshire in 1993 to concentrate on her own painting and has since been developing her work as an emotional response to landscape. She has shown regularly at the Adam Gallery in Bath and London, and at New Academy Gallery. She opened her own gallery in Pembrokeshire, adjacent to her studio, in 1999 and since then has welcomed almost 4,000 visitors.

She is well known for her expressive mixed media landscape paintings and is currently working on a series of aerial paintings resulting from a collaboration with a pilot. The Place

The extraordinary light and landscape of Pembrokeshire has inspired artists since Turner's day. The residential courses are based at Swmbarch House , which is a 4 Star accredited farmhouse and studio in a peaceful hamlet just off the A40 near Fishguard. Swmbarch has 3 gorgeous ensuite double/twin rooms overlooking the garden, and a large studio working area.
