“Hiraeth” is a Welsh word meaning ‘longing’ or ‘homesickness’. This project a series I worked on based on the stories of Welsh people who emigrated to the USA in the 18th and 19th Centuries. I researched their stories in archives and online and made contact with descendants in the States, many of whom are Mormons, some of whom have kindly provided photographs and other information which helped me in making my work.

Five pieces from this series were selected by Elysium Gallery, Swansea, for an exhibition called “From Here and There” which was also shown at the Clara Hatton Gallery in Colorado in September 2014.
